Well the hip is still sore but I think manageble. I’m now combining ibuprofen and some new stretches as part of my daily regimen.
The ibuprofen as an anti-imflammatory not for pain, and the stretches to focus on those hip parts.
Tuesday 4 miles. 36′3″. Pace 9′01″.

Thursday July 26. 4 miles. approx. 10 min. pace. Jeff had arrived in town earlier in the day for the family weekend and had borrowed the car to go and visit Charlotte and Michael on the south side. I closed the store at 8pm, changed into my running togs and ran from the store back [...]

If you suffer from nipple abrasion, chafing, running and you have a hairy chest apply the tape horizontally and not vertically. That way it doesn’t feel as though someone is pulling the hairs from your chest one at a time, and it’s easier to take off afterwards. BTW, I use 3M Transpore Tape - it seems [...]

It was 8 days since I last ran. After doing that 6-miler my left hip felt really sore at the front top, so I waited until nearly all the symptoms disappeared. That was today.
I hit the favored 1.6 mile figure of eight around Leroy Oaks and doubled it. I stretched well before starting out and tried [...]

2 days since I ran the 6-miler and I’ve done little since other than to nurse the sore hip. And of course right now it feels fine. I’m trying to decide if I should try to pick up on the schedule tomorrow – I should have done 3 miles today then 6 miles tomorrow. Maybe [...]

The hip has me a bit worried. I need to spend a little time on self-diagnosis and, according to Jeff, come up with a plan that I can keep my cardio vascular fitness going while minimizing the stress on my hurty bits.
Duringthe runs it’s not too bad, but afterwards it will stiffen a little and becomes [...]

I did the “long one” today. Yesterday, Sunday, was just too darned hot and I thought my hip ache would benefit from another rest day.
It was still really hot today but I did complete a combo run / walk of 10.2 miles. Longest so far. Once around my favorite Leroy Oaks figore-of-eight and then out to [...]

Wednesday 6 miles Pace 9′57″ on Independence Day.
Thursday – did not run, I have been having a little pain in my left hip so I thought I’d give it a rest.
Friday 4 miles Pace 9′23″ – the hip felt ok … but now about 8 hours later it is back to hurting. It’s a little worrying.

The forest preserve must be a naturalist’s delight. Every day I see something new, birds or flowers. This morning I saw the brightest goldfinch – he was almost flourescent.
