Started out at about 8am to do 3 miles. It was already hot and humid – more like a Chicago dog days morning than late June.
I’d been dreaming last night about how 3 miles would now be relatively easy and that maybe I could push the pace a little on these “shorter” runs.
That was not [...]

I don’t want to sound blasé or tempt fate, but I guess I’m getting in better and better condition. After doing 8 miles the other day, I thought I’d rein back to a 6-miler today. It all went pretty smoothly. I’d taped over my nipples with surgical tape and that seemed to [...]

man did I sweat … I think I ribbed my nupples raw.
Great Western Trail out past Wasco and back.
I took a couple of walking breaks. The last one as I was about to finish. I looked at my watch at the bottom of the hill and had about 90 seconds to do the last 300 [...]

West from Leroy Oales, I followed the old railroad tracks for a 4-miler this morning. It was hot and humid, but that’s a good route for full sun – there’s plenty of shade.
Looks like the lower back is improving … gotta to care of it.
Gonna modify the plan over the next few days, and will do [...]

Rest and prednisone. After 5 days of nursing the flare up of lower back pain (I must’ve pushed one of those disks sideways) I felt good enough to get back out there today.
Starting out from Leroy Oaks at 7am, I was opened minded about what I would do – walk a mile, maybe run-walk a [...]

waaa haaaa!
I feel miserable. After driving back on Sunday from North Carolina without breaks other than quick refuel and feed (14 hours), then running around on Monday morning and doing lots of lifting of suitcases, and I recharged the water conditioner with 240lbs of salt – my lower back hurts!!!!!
Enough that I know I shouldn’t run.
This is [...]

The wedding was great – more on that when there’s more time.
I used the treadmill in the hotel to get in 2 miles yesterday. The second mile was run at a 9′21″ pace.
Today we start with a farewell brunch and travel the 1000 miles back to St. Charles – a different kind of “long [...]
